A palimpsest is a technically a manuscript where the text has been scrapped off or washed off so the page can be reused. The Pantheon isĀ an architectural palimpsest. Its form has been reinterpreted by many architects for many building, but often for libraries. New York City has two Pantheon-like libraries: The Gould Memorial Library at New York University’s old uptown campus (now Bronx Community College, CUNY) and The Low Library at Columbia University.
