During a small window of time from 1925 to 1928, several buildings inspired by the architecture of the Ancient Near East appeared in New York City. The architecture of the Ancient Near East offered new options for skyscrapers that had to be set back due to the 1916 zoning law. The ziggurats of Mesopotamia with the set-backs were ideal models for the new tall buildings of Manhattan.
